Congratulations to our very own Ian Crawford who has been awarded with an Order of Australia for outstanding service to the dental industry and to sport in today’s King’s Birthday Awards. A well deserved recognition for a lifetime of service!!!
Ian has a long association with the Prahran Cricket Club since joining as a player in season 1964/65. He served many years on the Club Committee alongside the likes of Bob Parish, David Jukes, and Sam Loxton.
During this period he served as Assistant Secretary and Vice President before taking over as Club President in 1982, a position he held for 27 years before stepping down in 2008.
Ian was elevated to Life Membership in 1982, was inducted to the club Hall of Fame in 2001 and to Legends status in 2009.
He has retained his connections to the club since that time and remains a patron and active member of the club today, as well as many other cricket and sport associations and entities, including his beloved Fitzroy (Brisbane) Lions.
We are proud to call Ian a ‘True Blue’ and extend our congratulations on this well-deserved reward for his lifelong commitment.
